Our March Topic - When Labor Standards Comes Knocking - An Inside Look at the Government's Process for Investigating Fair Employment Charges

We all know that Wyoming is an 'employment-at-will' state, but there are still state and federal laws that employers must obey when it comes to hiring, firing, and disciplining employees. So what happens when a current or former employee files a charge of discrimination with the EEOC? How does Wyoming Labor Standards fit in this process? Even for a seasoned HR professional, the process can be confusing. The easiest way to explain it is this: there is one main road as the investigation proceeds, but there are many different twists and turns. This session will provide an invaluable insiders perspective on how Labor Standards evaluates and investigates discrimination claims so youcan navigate the process with confidence.

Presented by - Kelly Roseberry, Manager of Labor Standards Wyoming Department of Workforce Services

Kelly is a licensed attorney with extensive employment law experience. She currently serves the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services (DWS) as Executive Secretary for the Wyoming Medical Commission and Manager of Labor Standards. Prior to joining DWS, Kelly was a Senior Hearing Examiner at the Wyoming Office of Administrative Hearings where she heard and decided contested cases referred by various Wyoming agencies. Kelly also served as Senior Assistant Attorney General at the Wyoming Attorney General’s Office. While there, she advised DWS on Workers’ Compensation, OSHA, Labor Standards, and Employer Tax issues. She also argued more than thirty Workers Compensation cases to the Wyoming Supreme Court. Kelly is a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Law and Vanderbilt University. In her free time, Kelly enjoys volunteering for Cheyenne Frontier Days and serving on the Board of Directors for Girls on the Run – Wyoming..
