Monthly Chamber Luncheon

This month we celebrate the graduation of the Leadership Cheyenne class! We will also hear from Kent Noble and his expertise on "What's Your Brand?"!

Kent Noble is the Bill Daniels Chair of Business Ethics at the University of Wyoming College of Business. Kent has a rich background in higher education, college athletics, and the television/film industry, as well as a passion for working with college students and business/community leaders on a local and national level.

As the Bill Daniels Chair of Business Ethics, Kent’s responsibilities include:

• Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses
• Serving as a resource for Wyoming businesses and the state’s community colleges
• Developing nationwide visibility for UW’s business ethics initiatives
• Representing the College of Business in the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Consortium

Most recently, Kent was the Executive Director of the Center for Cowboy Ethics and Leadership.  In this capacity, he worked with former Wall Street executive and best-selling author James P. Owen to help oversee and deliver the Center’s various ethics offerings for corporate clients and youth organizations.

For his outreach efforts, Kent has developed a series of engaging principles-based ethics presentations which he delivers to diverse audiences.  To date, he has conducted nearly 200 sessions for business, government, and community leaders. In total, participants representing more than 40 states and 20 countries have enjoyed his talks.

This is Kent’s second stint with the University of Wyoming College of Business.  Previously, he served as the Assistant Dean for External Relations.  In this role, Kent teamed with former Dean Brent Hathaway to raise approximately $25 million for the College of Business, including matching dollars. 

Kent’s first professional connection to the University of Wyoming was in the UW Athletics Department.  As the Senior Associate Athletics Director, he secured a multi-million dollar agreement to outsource the department’s media rights; negotiated a seven-figure naming-rights commitment for its multi-use facility; increased gross revenue from corporate sales by more than 50%, while net revenue increased in excess of 100%; and chaired an effort to ensure compliance with the NCAA’s mandated attendance policy for Division IA football programs.

Prior to joining the University of Wyoming, Kent had a career in the television/film industry which included two entrepreneurial ventures:

• Safari Network, a representation agency for filmmakers where he successfully negotiated a seven-figure sale of stock footage to United News & Media in the UK. He also conceptualized and negotiated a multi-million dollar agreement with Turner Broadcasting and NHK/Japanese Broadcasting for 6 one-hour television specials.
• Television Marketing Consultants, a company he cofounded that handled the domestic distribution of animation for Hanna-Barbera Productions and Worldvision Enterprises. Properties included the Jetsons, Smurfs, Rambo, the Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera, and Jonny Quest.

Kent earned his B.S. degree in Broadcasting at the University of Wyoming.  He and his wife, Leslie, have three school-aged children, Lindsey, Tate, and Ella.

Kent’s personal principles to live by:

• Remember, at the end of the day, it’s all about God, family, and friends.
• Figure out why you’re here—then go get it done. 
• Effort and attitude can trump intelligence, but nothing trumps integrity. 
• Make the room better when you enter it.
• Find the humor and share it. 
• Live each moment like your kids are watching. 
• Don’t make it more difficult than it really is.
• Strive for win-win situations.
• Bet on those who buy into the “half-full” theory. 
• Some things matter, some things don’t—don’t confuse the two.
• All it takes is all you’ve got.
