    Training Specialist

    The Wyoming Association of Risk Management (WARM) has an opportunity for a self-driven individual to serve as Training Specialist. The primary responsibilities include designing, organizing and instructing educational programs for members. The successful candidate must be able to manage multiple projects and work independently with limited supervision. Extensive travel throughout Wyoming will be necessary. Position requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree and three to five years experience in education, training or public speaking. Experience working with a public agency is desirable. Any combination of education, training or experience which provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills will be considered. Must possess a valid driver license and meet acceptable driving criteria. Salary DOE.     Job Description:

    General Purpose:
    Under general supervision from the Executive Director, performs complex training work.
    Work involves planning, designing, organizing, conducting and evaluating educational training programs; analyzing training needs; preparing training materials and coordinating training sessions.
     
    Supervision Received:
    Works under the general supervision of the Executive Director.
     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    Duties/tasks may include but are not limited to:
    Training
    - Maintains the strictest standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
    - Develops training courses to meet the needs of the WARM member entities.
    - Delivers materials in an effective medium.
    - Assesses training needs through consultations with employees and member entities.
    - Schedules and delivers training sessions for all member entities.
    - Manages the online training system and program.
    - Keeps current with developments in training areas by reading current journals, books and magazine articles. Also attends classes and conferences as needed.
    - Monitors and evaluates training activities to ensure program effectiveness and makes appropriate improvements.
    - Presents information using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos and lectures.
    - Evaluates, manages and makes recommendations for all training programs offered by the organization.
    - Assists with analyzing loss data in order to focus training toward reducing losses.
     
    Risk Management  
    - Assists with identifying risk exposures and their impact on total risk management programs.
    - Assists with conducting risk assessments and implementing loss control programs.
     
    General
    - Writes articles for and manage the preparation of the WARM newsletter.
    - Answers the telephone; assist members and/or claimants as necessary.
    - Performs other duties as assigned.
     
    Desired Minimum Qualifications:
    Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    - Knowledge of principles and adult education methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups and the measurement of training effects.
    - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher.
    - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
    - Ability to plan, organize, direct, and coordinate the work as described above.
    - Ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports.
    - Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
    - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including member entities, employees and the general public.
    - Ability to analyze, process, and manage multiple projects.
    - Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
    - Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment.
    - Ability to travel with frequent overnight stays.
     
    Education and/or Experience:
    - Requires a Bachelor’s degree with major course work in education, psychology or related field and five years experience in education, training, risk management or related field.
    - Any equivalent combination of education, training or experience which provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills is acceptable.
    - Experience in working with a public agency and the ARM designation are desirable.
