Sexual Orientation and Transgender in the Workplace - What do the Court's Say? 

The Supreme Court’s opinion in Bostock v. Clayton County has settled the question of whether Title VII’s prohibition on discrimination because of sex includes sexual orientation and transgender status. This presentation will review the Court’s reasoning, pro and con, and what the Court did not decide. We will also discuss steps employers should take to comply with Title VII post-Bostock. Finally, we will touch on where Bostock leaves the question of gender identity under Title VII.

This presentation will discuss how employers and human resource professionals can navigate global and cultural effectiveness in their workplace, and encourage the competencies of communication and relationship management within their organization. Attendees should take away some clear guidance regarding appropriate workplace behavior and the consequences of failing to comply with anti-discrimination policies that include gender identity.
