The 5 W's and 1 H of Performance Reviews

During the presentation, we will cover the 5 Ws, including: Who should give performance reviews, and who should receive them. What types of reviews are available, and which type is most effective for the various types of evaluations that occur. When should they be given (frequency). Where should they given. Why are they important, including how to set and manage expectations. We will also cover the H: how should performance reviews be given, and, if difficult feedback needs to be provided, how to manage the conversation while delivering appropriate coaching feedback. Finally, we will briefly discuss the importance of documentation through the review process.

Participants will discuss how regularly scheduled performance reviews affect business management, and how the power of coaching feedback influences employee relations. Participants will learn how to leverage performance reviews in the talent planning process, and identify communication strategies for difficult conversations. Participants will also receive samples of several types of performance evaluations and information on when and how to use each one as part of the learning and development tools for their organizations.  Skills HR professionals will learn from this event?  Understanding the options for conducting performance reviews and that they aren’t all the same.  This helps retain our employees by providing necessary feedback and timely recognition, it provides HR professionals with information to train their managers which is crucial in our small and rural businesses in Wyoming.

Jaime has worked in higher education for over 15 years. Jaime holds a PhD in Business Management with an emphasis in Leadership. She is a dynamic public speaker, and has spoken at several leadership conferences and women’s events.
