    What Accountants Wish HR Knew

Within an entity whether government, businesses or non-profit, certain activities overlap between the accounting and HR functions.  These activities often involve payroll, personnel training, employee expense reimbursements and benefits.  In summary, whenever the dollars intersect with the people, HR and accounting will normally both be involved.  On the surface, accounting and HR would appear to be polar opposites with individuals who want to work with numbers and not people moving towards accounting and people who thrive on social interaction gravitating towards HR.  The reality is that both functions need each other to effectively perform the related duties for certain aspects of each function.

Attendees will garner an increased awareness of the differences in communication styles between accountants (tend to be left-brain) vs HR (tend to be right-brain). You will be provided examples of how the two functions intersect and solicit questions, discussion and techniques for ideas to improve the processes.  There will be a highlight of overall concerns accountants have with regard to the effect people in the organization have on their ability to accomplish the objective of accurate and timely financial information. Takeaways provide HR professionals knowledge and understanding of financial risk and short and long term planning and employment to support strategic planning and organizational growth, and addresses ethical practices and communication that are key to positive working relationships between HR and Accounting
