Employment First
This presentation, Employment First, can be described as a framework for systems change that is centered on the premise that all citizens, including those with disabilities, are capable of full and equal participation in integrated employment and community life. As the Employment First Consultant for the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Shaye’s overall goal is to improve the quality of employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities in Wyoming through the establishment of employer networks and partnerships throughout the state. She works with local VR Counselors in each community to provide employers with education and support surrounding Employment First as a state and federal initiative, employment issues related to disability in the workplace, the benefits of hiring people with disabilities, and share information about the types of support services the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation can provide people with disabilities in the workplace and employers. This program will focus on:
- Description of DVR and overall goals of the division
- Overview of DVR process
- Services DVR can provide based on individual need
- Services DVR can provide to an employer and their employee with a disability
- Reasonable accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) & examples of accommodations that can be made for an employee with a disability
- Benefits of having an inclusive workforce, and benefits of hiring a person with a disability
- Addressing and dispelling myths about ADA and disability in the workplace
- Other disability & employment related resources available to the employer
Our presenter, Shaye Moon, has been with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation for 9 years, and has a Master of Arts Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. She has worked with individuals with disabilities in some capacity for the last 16 years.
This program has been approved for 1 HRCI and SHRM credit hour.

Please Note: FHRA is required to pay for "No Shows" or late cancellations so please be responsible; late cancellations are considered to be after 5:00 pm the Friday before the event.

- There will be a 50/50 raffle, with half of the proceeds going toward the SHRM Foundation. Tickets are $1.00/each or six (6) for $5.00.
- If you have a nametag, please wear it to the meeting!

We will be accepting donations for items to share with FE Warren AFB to distibute to deoployed troops. Suggested items include - chapstick, hand sanitizer, individual packets of of nuts, chips, etc.
