PROGRAM:
Wages, Benefits, and New Hires: Data for HR Managers
Compensation and benefits are critical pieces in the Human Resources puzzle! They impact staffing decisions, budgetary allocations and are a key part of the short and long term strategic planning in any organization.
During the presentation, data will be shared regarding wages, benefits, hiring trends and changes to local industries that have the potential to impact many local businesses. Time will be spent sharing how the recent economic downturn and loss of jobs in the oil and gas industry are impacting statewide employment and wage trends.
We will then look to forecasted trends in insurance, construction, hospitality, and higher education/community colleges, all businesses that play a key role in the Cheyenne economy. The presentation will conclude with a brief overview of online resources available to HR and recruiting professionals through the Wyoming workforce.
SPEAKER:
Katelynd Faler, Senior Economist
Katelynd Faler is a Senior Economist for the Research & Planning section of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services. Katelynd began her career by working in Wyoming’s uranium industry after receiving her B.S. in Geology and her B.A. in Economics from Cleveland State University. Since 2014, Katelynd has worked for Research & Planning, the leading labor market information office with the largest, most connected and up-to-date workforce-education in the United States. Some of her many research interests include education opportunity costs and outcomes, and the employment and migration of Wyoming’s young adults.
