    PROGRAM: 

    Correctional Education

    Speaker: Betty Abbott, Correctional Education Programs Manager at The Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC)

    Betty Abbott has been an educator since 1983, and has been in her current role of over 11 years.  Betty oversees the WDOC’s academic, vocational, college, and pre-release programs designed to fulfill the organization’s mission of actively providing offenders opportunities to become law-abiding citizens. In her presentation, Betty will be discussing:

    • The mission of the Wyoming Department of Corrections and the programs provided to fulfill the mission
    • Employment areas/fields appropriate for most offenders
    • The importance of offenders being gainfully employed
    • Federal bonding program through the Department of Workforce Services
    • Tax incentives available through the Department of Workforce Services
    • Resources available to employers

    **NOTE**

    This program has been approved for 1 (HR (General)) recertification credit hour toward PHR, SPHR or GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute.

    • This month's raffle will be a 50/50 raffle with half of the proceeds going toward the SHRM Foundation! Tickets are $1.00/each or six for $5.00.
    • If you have a nametag, please wear it to the meeting!
