    Utilizing the LCCC Career Center

In this presentation we will discuss how the LCCC Career Center helps employers increase LCCC student and alumni engagement. This includes: posting job/ internship opportunities at no cost through our College Central Network (CCN), which can be accessed by our students and alumni; meeting with our staff to strategically discuss recruitment needs; consulting employers concerning internship development and best practices; promoting opportunities via flyers, social media, and tableing on campus; and sending invitations to career events throughout the academic year.

Presenter: Crystal Smith, Lead Career Center Education Specialist - Laramie County Community College

Crystal has worked in higher education for over nine years. Prior to coming to LCCC, she worked in career services at Indiana University Bloomington and as a Relay For Life specialist for the American Cancer Society. Crystal’s career services experience includes managing career education services, one-on-one career advising/coaching, coordinating internships, building employer relationships, teaching career courses and supervising career center staff. She also spent her own time as an undergraduate college student working in the Student Affairs Department, which sparked her interest and passion for helping students grow and develop throughout their college experience. BA: Communication Arts, Georgetown College, KY, MS: Higher Education and Student Affairs, University of Kentucky.

Takeways: Knowledge of the LCCC student population. Overview of how the LCCC Career Center works with employers. How to post positions on College Central Network. Best practices for internship development.
